MSc in Electronic Science and Technology

A joint Master’s programme of Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU), China.

Overview

The MSc in Electronic Science and Technology (MScEST) is a 3-year, 120 ECTS postgraduate programme jointly delivered by the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), Cyprus, and Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU), China. Taught entirely in English, it educates engineering specialists in electronic and electrical engineering who are equipped to research, teach, and manage engineering projects in an international, bilingual environment.

The programme pairs a rigorous taught component with an extended, co-supervised research experience spanning both partner universities. Graduates leave with solid theoretical foundations, the ability to conduct research independently, to follow and contribute to the latest technological developments, to publish their work, and to collaborate across an international academic community.

What You Will Learn

The programme is designed so that, on completion, graduates can:

  • Conduct scientific research at the highest level, independently and inventively;
  • Consolidate advanced, fundamental knowledge and concepts in electronic engineering;
  • Model, design and analyse complex electronic engineering systems;
  • Write, publish and present research work, and read and compose technical papers in English;
  • Progress to doctoral study or to research-intensive roles in industry.

Programme Structure

The programme follows a 1+1+1 year structure across three academic years, with study split between the two partner universities:

YearFocusLocation
Year 1Taught coursework — 7 courses delivered by CUT staff and 6 by HDU staff. A thesis proposal is prepared with CUT supervisors at the end of the year.HDU — Hangzhou, China
Year 2Scientific research and the Master’s thesis (30 ECTS). Students take the Research Methods course (EEN515) and sit a thesis mid-examination.CUT — Limassol, Cyprus
Year 3Practical scientific and research training (30 ECTS) — extending the thesis with peer-reviewed publication(s) or a patent, alongside industry internships, and completing the dissertation, review and defence.HDU — Hangzhou, China
